Betty Edgell, 97, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2022 at home.
She was born in Colonie, NY on March 13, 1924 to the late John and Rose (Enos) Fuller.
Betty was a lifelong resident of Colonie and a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady. She married Ralph Edgell in 1949 and together they raised their family in Colonie. Betty was a business education teacher at St. Anne Institute in Albany. She was a past matron and grand officer of Ella Nicholson-Fort Orange Albany #12, OES, and a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of N.A., Marvia Court No. 27. She was a Girl Scout leader and a lifelong and active member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was past president of the Women's Society. She and her husband enjoyed traveling with the Masonic National Camping Travelers Group. Betty belonged to the Waterford Home Bureau and had many hobbies including quilting, crafting and ceramics. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Ralph, grandson Patrick Byrne and brother Harold Fuller.
She is survived by her beloved daughters: Deborah (William) Fincke, Cynthia (the late Hubert) Byrne, Colleen Edgell and Lynn (the late Theodore) Judkins; grandchildren: Jessica (Kenneth) Bonjukian, Tabitha Judkins, Isaac Judkins; and great-grandchildren, Phoebe Bonjukian, Makayla Holmes, Quincy Holmes, Jackson Byrne and Lily Byrne; and several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her faithful canine companion Peppi.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 18th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, NY.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 19th, at 10 a.m. at Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 1580 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12205.
Interment to follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park, Schenectady.
