Guilderland- Betty Jean O'Brien, 69, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2005 after a courageous battle with a long illness. She was surrounded by her loving family and close friends at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Betty was born in the town of Hermon, NY on September 10, 1936 to the late Florence and Vernon Trimm. Raised and educated in St. Lawrence County, Betty enjoyed the beauty and tranquility of the St. Lawrence River. She later moved to the Albany area in 1979, where she became a member of the Colonie Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was baptized in 1975. Betty worked for the NYS Dept. of Tax and Finance retiring in 1995. She was a licensed real estate agent and worked for Bob Howard Realty during the 1980's. During this same time she owned her own business, the Daisy Dusters.
Betty is survived by her daughter Erin O'Brien, her son Eric Kniele, her daughter-in-law Regina Kniele and her "little love" (grandson) Eric Gabriel Kniele.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 7:00 PM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 or to the American Diabetes Association, 7 Washington Square, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Betty Jean O'Brien.
