COLONIE – Betty R. LaQue, 82, of Colonie, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at Albany Memorial Hospital, under the care of Hospice. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Romand. Mrs. LaQue was an Albany area resident for all of her life. She worked for the State Bank of Albany for 33 years, retiring in 1984. Betty was a member of the quarter century club at State Bank of Albany and a communicant of St. Clare's Church. She was an avid bowler. Betty was the beloved wife of 61 years to Donald W. LaQue until his passing in January 2006. She is the devoted mother of Donald C. LaQue and his wife, Helen of Colonie. She is the sister of Joseph Romand and his wife, Margaret of Colonie, James Romand of New Mexico and the late Charles Romand. Betty is the cherished grandmother of James Donald LaQue and his wife, Hope of Rotterdam and Mark William LaQue and his wife, Susan of Syracuse. She is the loving great-grandmother of Brennan, Sydney and Meredith LaQue. She is the sister-in-law of Martha Romand of Colonie and Moses LaQue and his wife, Diane of Colonie. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and her faithful feline companion, "Ruby." Betty's family would like to thank the nurses on the 6th floor at Albany Memorial Hospital for all of the kindness and care they gave to Betty during her illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning at St. Clare's Church at 9:00. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144 in memory of Betty R. LaQue.
