Albany/Colonie, Betty M.(Cathers) Marschner, 92, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2016. Devoted wife of the late Eric C. Marschner.
Betty and her husband were the owners/instructors of Acadia Driving School in Albany, NY for over 45 years. Betty was a member of Pine Grove Methodist Church and the Colonie Village Senior Center and active with the German Group there.
Betty is survived by her 6 children and their families: Thomas Marschner (Putnam Valley & Hague, NY), Susan Pracher (Albany, NY), Alan Marschner (Schenectady, NY), Linda Marschner Gronostaj (E. Greenbush, NY), Lori Kaufmann (W. Palm Beach, FL) and Kevin Marschner (Nassau, NY).
Betty is also survived by her sister, Janet Cathers Blaine (Phillipsburg, NJ), as well as numerous members of her extended family.
Additionally, Betty is predeceased by: her parents James and Ida Cathers and her siblings: Vietta Vannatta, Earl Cathers and Beatrice Denker.
A calling hour and memorial service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016. The calling hour will be from 11:00am-12:00pm at Pine Grove Methodist Church, 1580 Central Avenue, Colonie, NY 12205. A memorial service will follow the calling hour starting at 12:00pm at the church. Internment will be held at 3:00pm at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schyllerville, NY 12871.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest a monetary donation be made to either: Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 1580 Central Avenue, Colonie NY 12205 or Village of Colonie Seniors, 2 Thunder Road, Colonie, NY 12205. If you would like to send flowers, please have them delivered (7/28/16, late afternoon) to New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie, NY 12205.
