Betty S. Scarff

NISKAYUNA, NY – Betty S. Scarff, 77, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at her daughter's home, after a short illness. She was born in St. Albans, VT and lived in Niskayuna for most of her life. Betty worked for the Albany County Nursing Home for many years before her retirement. She enjoyed knitting prayer shawls and caring for anyone who needed her. Betty especially loved spending time with her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late George Scarff, Sr. She is the devoted mother of George (Trinket) Scarff of Colonie, Gloria (Frank) Gambacorta of Clifton Park, Elizabeth "Beth" Scarff of St. Petersburg, FL, Trudy (Bryan) Kump of Malta, Bonnie (Eric) Bennett of Schenectady and the late Tina Marie Scarff. She is the sister of Laura Jensis and Leona Pucci. Betty is the cherished grandmother of Stephen, Jeannine, Benjamin and John Scarff, Frank and Nathan "Nate" Gambacorta, Christian, Hope and Jake Bennett and Adam and Joshua Kump. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Alexis, Emily and Isabella, and several nieces and nephews. Betty's family would like to thank the staff of Community Hospice of Saratoga for the care and support given to her during her illness, and also to our friend and neighbor, Bridget Vesic for all of her kindness, care and support.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie.
