Betty L. Scott

Betty Lee Scott, 91, wife of the late William F. Scott of Schenectady, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at home peacefully with her family by her side.

Born July 17, 1932, in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter to the late Robert and Adelaide Jaquay.

Betty attended Nott Terrace High School, and later took college courses at Junior College of St. Petersburg, Fl. For several years she worked as a Urology Technician. She was an avid crafter/vendor and would be found at local craft shows. Betty enjoyed playing tennis and was a member of the Schenectady Tennis Association. She was a talented seamstress and took great pleasure in making costumes, clothing, and gowns for her family. She loved music, dancing, and taking trips with her husband Bill. She loved the ocean and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and paddle boating on Lake Nancy. Her incredible homemade meals will be greatly missed by all. Betty was a loving and supportive mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her daughters Deborah (Paul) Spurgas, Lea (Scott) Schaffer, Penny (Mark) Mason; grandchildren Brooke (Ryan) Cullinan, Dr. Morgan (Jennifer) Spurgas, Heather Lengyel, David Schaffer, Tommy Schaffer; her great grandchildren Ashton, Kensington, and Maxamilion, and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was predeceased by her sister Fleur Giacumo.

Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205. A funeral service will take place at 10:30am on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, 2150 Central Ave., Schenectady NY 12304.
