Betty Smalley

Colonie, NY – Betty Wheeler Smalley, 77, entered into eternal rest Monday March 15, 2010. She was born September 3rd, 1932. Betty was raised in Austerlitz, NY on the family farm the daughter of the late Martin J. Wheeler and Hilda Cook of Southfield, England. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her brother Martin J. Wheeler. She was a devoted member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church.
She was the devoted wife of 56 years to John N. Smalley, Sr., loving mother of Susan Dier of Schenectady and John Smalley (Lori) of Colonie, four grandchildren: Joseph Thomas (Celia), Elisabeth, Rebecca and Makayla, two great-grandchildren: Julianna and Connor.
Betty found her greatest peace when surrounded by nature. Through small acts of great love, Betty taught us all how to find joy in simplicity. Her humble service to God and family exemplified her beautiful soul.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ellis Hospital, especially the ICU nurses, for their loving care.
