Bettyann Prindle

March 23, 1945 — September 2, 2015

BettyAnn Prindle, 70, died on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, following a courageous battle with recurrent ovarian cancer and related complications. Betty Ann was the most beautiful human being ever to grace this earth. The things she cared about most she achieved - loving wife, caring mother and dear friend. Her guiding principle in life, which she carried with her daily, was: "Be kinder than necessary, everyone you meet is fighting a battle!"

Born in Albany, she was the only daughter of the late Michael and Josephine Kaido. BettyAnn graduated from Albany High School (1962) and Mildred Elly Secretarial School (1963) and began employment with the Delaware and Hudson Railroad Company (D&H), working there as a secretary until 1967, when she started her family. After several years as a stay-at-home mom, she returned to work at International Technomics Corporation (Intertech), from which she retired as Office Manager in 2007. Betty Ann married Arnold V. Prindle on May 20, 1990 and spent the following 25 years enjoying the beautiful love they shared.

Betty Ann spent much of her time enjoying her family, friends, and neighbors. Whether day trips to Lake George, overnights she and Arnold spent in Dorset, VT, vacationing on Cape Cod, or simply helping out a neighbor, her love of life and laughter was always evident. Right up to the end, no matter how she was feeling, she put a smile on her face, kept her sense of humor, and made sure her family knew how much she loved them. Not a day went by that she did not appreciate what she had.

Betty Ann is survived by her husband, Arnold V. Prindle; daughter, Kara Melius Boldish (Dennis Pelletier) of Latham, daughter in-law, Shelly Beach Melius of East Nassau; step-sons, Gregory M. Prindle of Hoboken, NJ and Christopher Prindle of Syracuse, NY; brother Michael J. Kaido, LTC US Army Ret., of Columbus, GA; grandsons, Joshua E. Pelletier, Andrew M. Boldish (Gina Boden), Michael F. Melius III (Lynn Beckwith), and Trevor C. Melius; her "sister-in-heart" since childhood, Sandy (Wagner) Carpenter; cherished long-time friend, Patrice Toombs; dear friends (deceased), Peggy Lanci and Patricia Northcutt; dear sisters and brothers in-law, nieces and nephews. Betty Ann was eagerly awaiting the birth of her first great grandchild, Natalie Ann Boldish, due in October. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Michael F. Melius, Jr., ex-husband, Michael F. Melius, Sr. and sister-in-law, Frances Kaido.

Betty Ann wanted to acknowledge the love and comfort she received from family and friends, especially during the last months of her life. She left this world knowing how much she was loved. She also wished to acknowledge her beloved husband Arnold, who accompanied her on her final journey as comforter and caregiver. The love they shared for each other, most only wish for!

She also wished to thank Drs. Morrissey and Timmons and the staff of Women's Cancer Care Associates, with special appreciation to those angels in the infusion room, Nurses Barbara Mahar and Anne Lofman, and Drs Joseph Bied, Bruce Lyman, Mohammad Hena and Duncan Savage. The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the kind and caring staff of St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital.

For those who may wonder what they can do to honor Betty Ann, our request is simple. Honor her example of patience and kindness. Go out of your way to help a neighbor, make sure your family knows how much you love them, and be grateful each and every day for what you have. This is how she lived her life!

In lieu of flowers, Betty Ann requested that donations be made to Ronald McDonald House or The American Cancer Society. Her final wish was for family and friends to enjoy a Celebration of Life picnic in her honor. There will be no wake or funeral. Please join us on Tuesday, September 8, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., on the Pavilion at the Polish American Citizens Club, 100 Commerce Avenue, Albany – adjacent to the West Albany Industrial Park. Food and drinks will be provided – casual attire.
