Bettye L. Mcclain

COLONIE – Bettye L. McClain, passed away suddenly and was delivered into eternal peace on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. God smiled and received her with open arms.
Bettye was born in Somerset, KY and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Clara M. (Fitch) Waite. She worked for Albany County Nursing Home as an L.P.N. for over 35 years before retiring in 2006. She enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, watching movies, reading, crossword puzzles, fishing with her husband, but most especially taking care of her family.
Bettye is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Kenneth R. McClain; her loving and devoted children, Sondra (Bobby) Reed of Smyrna, GA, Veronica (Tobias) Crenshaw of Kennesaw, GA, Gary McClain of Albany, Susan (Vaughn) Avery of Colonie and Laneka Moore of Albany; her devoted sister and best friend, Katherine (Horace) Hammonds of Albany; her cherished grandchildren, Kenneth Martin, Jhaffre (Crystal) McClain, Tyler McClain, Niyree Adams, Ariona Adams, Mjaan McClain and Rushon Young; her great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Jhaffre and Armond McClain; her nieces, Frances (Louis) Sprigs, Stephanie (Gordon) Mills and Constance (William) Bing; her nephews, Timothy and Steven Hammonds and Joe Waite Jr. and several great nieces and great nephews and her best friend of 35 years, Carlotta O'Connor. She was predeceased by her son, Kenneth R. McClain Jr.; her brother, Joe Waite and her sisters, Bertha Clayborne and Josie Mae Waite.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Friday at Kingdom Reigning Worship Center, 74 2nd. Ave., Albany. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Albany. A calling hour will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the church.
