GUILDERLAND – Beulah J. Hofmann, 87, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2010 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
Beulah was born on January 21, 1923 in Schenectady and was the daughter of the late David and Leota (Cook) Ernst. She first worked at General Electric then went to work at Whitney's Department Store and then worked at Sear and Roebucks where she retired. After her retirement she was a caregiver to many. She was an eighty year member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and also did missionary work in Haiti. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and reading.
Beulah is survived by her daughter, Linda L. Hill; her son, Charles A. Hofmann (Marion); her grandchildren, Monique, Colin Jr., Tonya, Charles Jr., Gregory, David, and Annalise; her great-grandchildren, Michael, Veronica, Adreanna, Alyssa, Sean, and Xander; her twin sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Shave; her nephew, Walter Shave (Sharon); her niece, Suzanne Engelien; her great-nephew, Douglas Shave and her great-niece, Deborah Flannery (Michael). She was predeceased by her son, Edward Hofmann; her brother, David Ernst Jr. and her son-in-law, Colin A. Hill.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Pilgrim Holiness Church where a calling hour will precede the service from 12 to 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland.
At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pilgrim Holiness Church, 2105 Curry Rd., Schenectady, NY 12303 in memory of Beulah J. Hofmann.
