COLONIE – Beverly A.Micare,62,of Colonie, passed away on Saturday December 6, 2008 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She endured a long and courageous battle with cancer but never stopped fighting.
Beverly was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Walter P. Starr and Peter and Marguerite Snyder Seifridsberger. She was a graduate of Colonie Central High School. Beverly had worked at the former John's Barber Shop on Fuller Rd., at DHL Couriers and most recently as a teacher's assistant at Colonie High School.
Beverly was one of the first five women to join Verdoy Fire Department and became a well trained firefighter and served as the President of the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed ceramics, participating in the powder puff stock car races at Lebanon Valley, was an avid bowler and along with her husband, a certified black belt in Judo.
Bev is survived by her best friend, soul mate and lifelong partner since ninth grade, her cherished and devoted husband Joseph (Mario) R. Micare. She is the beloved mother of April (Tim) Lee, Melanie Micare, and Mike Micare. She is the beloved sister of Marilyn Starr Handler and Jerome (Barbara) Starr. She is the cherished grandmother of Raymond & Tiffany Lee, Marty, Joshua and Katarina Fuchs, Tony & Mike Micare Jr. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and canine companion Jake.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 10:00 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd.Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
