Schenectady- Beverly Jean Myers (nee Mertens), 91, passed into the after life on December 20, 2020.
Everyone will remember Beverly's sense of humor and sassy personality. No doubt these qualities helped her survive the great depression and the raising of seven children. The Elmer Avenue neighborhood became quite familiar with the first and middle names of her children due to her uncanny ability to project her voice while yelling for her children to come home for dinner. Many will be surprised to find she lived to such a ripe old age when considering the stress of raising three boys and four girls.
Beverly was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Schenectady which no doubt gave her the strength to make it through the tough times. After raising her seven children and working various part-time jobs, she worked at TrustCo Bank in Schenectady for twenty years until retirement.
Special thanks to Christine and Hospice for their care and support during her journey.
She is survived by her loving brother Phillip Mertens of Scotia, children Denise Rollins (Dr. Roy Oyangen), Rebecca (Timothy) Billsborrow, Christopher (Molly) Myers, Eric Myers, Rae Bascue and Nadine Stern; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her eldest son Glenn Baker and brother Maynard Mertens.
Arrangements to celebrate the life of Beverly will be made at a later date. Please donate to the ASPCA (https://aspca.org/donate) in her memory - she loved Steve Caporizzo and watched Pet Connection nightly. It would make her so happy.
