COLONIE - Bianco (Joseph) Pettograsso, 80, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital.
Born in St. Elena, Italy, he was the son of the late Salvatore M. and Florinda C. (Stazio) Pettograsso. He was raised in Albany and lived most of his life in Latham and Colonie.
Bianco worked for Platt's Dairy as a milkman, starting at the age of 12 for over 25 years and was mentored by Edward Platt the owner. He also worked for Albany Public Markets for over 25 years. He enjoyed bocce ball and bowling, was an avid Yankees and Giants fan and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Bianco is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Veronica M. (Frasier) Pettograsso; his children, Christine A. Conroy of Clifton Park, Gee Gee (Debi) Pettograsso of Colonie, Ronald (Bonnie) Pettograsso of Waterford, Angela (David) Pettograsso-Lee of Waterford, Mary Kay (Jerry) Hoogkamp of Stillwater and Christopher (Melissa) Pettograsso of Abingdon, Md.; his sister, Angela Tashjian Finn of Albany; 19 grandchildren, one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Michael S. Pettograsso; his granddaughter, Dorothy Finn; his sister, Lucy Catoggio and his brother, Michael Pettograsso.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Gary Bakst, the nursing staff at 5 Brady and Hospice Inn at St. Peter's.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 9:30 at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:30 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12206 or to the charity of one's choice in memory of Bianco (Joseph) Pettograsso.
