Blaine H. King

June 12, 1920 — November 24, 2023

Blaine Hadley King, aged 103, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loving family on November 24,2023 in Glenville, New York.

Born on June 12, 1920 in Akron, Ohio. He was the son of the late Fred and Hattie (Williams) King. Blaine was a proud member of the armed forces, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force. It is while in the Air Force that Blaine met the love of his life, Betty (Aiken) King while at a USO dance. They married after 3 months and spent 73 years loving each other and raising their 3 children. Blaine was also a graduate of Georgia Tech, graduating with both mechanical and electrical engineering degrees. His engineering career took him to Bendix in Sidney, NY before eventually settling in Glenville, NY to start a long career at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. When Blaine was not working, he could be found tinkering in his workshop or tending to the small orchard he planted on their property. His faith was a very important part of his life, and he was a regular attendee at Faith Baptist Church in Rexford, NY for many years.

Blaine was predeceased by his beloved Betty as well as his brothers and sisters, Fred Jr, Thelma, Carl, Ivan, and Verna. He was the devoted father of Blaine "Hal" King (Maravic) of the Philippines, Brenda Peck (Rodney) of Glenville, NY, and Barry King of Glenville, NY. He was also the cherished grandfather of Christina (Steven), Brian (Jennifer), Daniel (Katie), Andrew, and Barry and great-grandfather to Matthew (Samantha), Joshua, Grady, and Olivia. Blaine is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
