Blanche Halstead

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Blanche Halstead, 94, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Schodack Landing, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Hattie Williams. Blanche had lived in Albany for most of her life. She worked for Montgomery Wards for twenty-five years, retiring in 1962. Blanche enjoyed the ocean and spending time in Maine. She liked making ceramics and crocheting.


Blanche was the beloved wife of the late Frank D. Halstead, Jr. She is the devoted mother of Betty B. (William) Jones, Patricia E. (Michael) Smith and the late Frank D. Halstead, III. Blanche is the loving sister of Harold (Marie) Williams. She is the cherished grandmother of Kathy, Sandra, Patricia, Jerry and the late Maria and great-grandmother of Kristin, Timothy, Katy, Amy and Cierra. She is the adored great-great-grandmother of Michael, Anthony, Kayleigh and Angelia. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and extended family.


Funeral Services will be Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie.
