Blease York Jr., 70, of Troy, made his heavenly journey on Monday, June 17, 2013 and was welcomed into the pearly gates of heaven by predeceased family with open arms.
Blease York was born January 24, 1943 in Greeleyville, SC to the late Blease, Sr. and Dorothy York.
He was educated in the Greeleyville School System in Greeleyville, SC. He was employed by Union #190 where he worked on various construction projects including several highways in the Capital District, and retired in 2003.
At an early age, Blease accepted Christ as his Savior and joined Mt Zion AME Church in Greeleyville, SC. He continued his Christian journey upon relocating to Troy with Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Blease was known to many as Buck Rabbit, a Master Barbeque Chef, and The Mayor of 9th Street. On December 31, 1966 he was united in holy matrimony to the late Selena Wallace.
Buck leaves to cherish his memory one son Michael (Takata) Felix of Troy; Five grandchildren: Jamal, Kevin, Alexandria, Sheba, and Royale; Eight sisters: Hattie York, and Thelma York of Troy; Margaret York, Azalee York, Julia Mae York, Frances Hilton, Kate York, and Cynthia York all of Greeleyville, SC; One Aunt: Mattie Lee Oliver of Greeleyville, SC; One brother–in-law: Andrew "Jack" Wallace of Troy; Five sisters-in-law: Virginia Dickson and Estella Wallace of Troy; Wilhelmina (James) Thomas of Freeport; Helen (Walter) Thompson of Greeleyville, SC; and Shirley (Jasper) Holmes of Myrtle Beach, SC. Two godchildren: Kevin Ragins of Baltimore, MD and Kristin Holmes of Orlando, FL and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 514 7th Avenue, Troy, NY 12182. A calling hour will precede the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church.
