Brian J. Killion

Rotterdam- Brian John Killion, age 62, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved wife and family in late January of 2021 after a courageous 6 year battle with cancer. Brian's love of life and determination were seen as he fought his disease until his very last breath.

Born in March of 1958, Brian was raised by Vincent and Helen Killion in Rotterdam, NY. He graduated from Schalmont High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College thereafter. Brian recently retired from Knolls Atomic Power Lab where he worked for 30 years as a Radiological Monitoring Compliance Engineer. He loved his work immensely and had many lifelong friends while living in NY. He enjoyed ice fishing with them every opportunity he had.

Brian met Frances when they were just teenagers and were together ever since. Together for 42 and married for 40 years, Frances was a devoted wife and remained by Brian's side throughout his illness. Brian is survived by his three children and their partners: Melissa (Grantley), Brian (Jessica), Jessica (William). Brian was a loving father and grandfather to his 8 grandchildren whom he adored and they him (Jada Marie, Cadence, Amaiya, Cameron, Makenna, Luka, Leona, and Grantley III). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and several life long friends. He is also survived by Vincent Killion.

Brian discovered he was adopted and was fortunate later in life to unite with his biological siblings and develop close relationships with each of them.

Upon his retirement, Brian and Frances relocated to Southwest Florida where they were able to do all the things that Brian loved so dearly, attend sporting events such as the Yankees Training Camp games, bird watching, fishing, relaxing on the beach and watching the stunning sunsets.

Brian touched many lives and was idolized by his grandchildren. He was the life of the party, always cooking up a storm, playing oldies music and reminiscing about the good ole' days. Brian was an avid sports fan and one of his greatest passions was gardening and tending to his immaculate lawn. Brian will be sorely missed by all who loved him.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hour on Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 9 to 11 a.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A service will follow at 11 a.m. Gathering size, within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements. Masks are required, and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels.
