ALBANY – Bridget Gilbride, 95, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2008 at the Teresian House, surrounded by her loving family.
Bridget was born on November 18, 1912 in County Mayo, Ireland. She was a beautician for Fantashia Beauty Salon in Manhattan for many years, before retiring.
Bridget was the beloved mother of John J. (Peggy) Gilbride of Albany and Michael (Cathy) Gilbride of Herden, VA. She was a dear grandmother of Maureen (Daniel) Mears, Peggy Anne (Sean) O'Donnell, Karen (Keith) Crowder and Megan Gilbride; and great-grandmother of Daniel J. Mears, Kayleigh G. O'Donnell and Maeve C. O'Donnell. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John P. Gilbride in 1977; her brother, Michael Hopkins; and her sisters, Sarah Minogue, Norah McMorrow and Kathleen McGowan.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Sr. Pauline and the staff at the Teresian House for the care and compassion given to Bridget.
Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Ave., Guilderland, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The parish family of Christ the King Church will gather at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome.
