NISKAYUNA - Bruce E. Johnson, 68, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 28, 2013. He is now in his happiest place on earth with his "unlimited pass" to Disneyworld.
Bruce was born on October 6, 1944 in Schenectady, NY and was the son of the late I. Birger and Johanna C. (Mortensen) Johnson. He was a 1962 graduate of Niskayuna High school and attended Ryder College in Trenton, NJ. He worked for General Electric for over 35 years before retiring in November of 2002 as a crane operator.
Above all else Bruce aka Dad, Papa Bear and Beepa was an amazing friend, father and grandfather. Bruce was loved by everyone and he always knew someone where ever he went. He always had a story for anyone who would listen and they always did. Including the UPS delivery man who became his friend after stopping there every day for Bruce's new gadgets and internet shopping deliveries. If he liked something he had it in every color, a new cd or movie came out he had to have it.
Bruce loved taking his family trips. He enjoyed going to the ocean in Hampton Beach, NH. His favorite was Ray's Fried Lobster. Bruce's favorite place on earth was Disneyworld and he loved everything Disney. He was always planning his next trip sometimes before he was home from the trip he was on.
Bruce also enjoyed playing golf with his friends at Schenectady Municipal and Western Turnpike Golf Courses. He loved his weekend golf getaways in Lake Placid and Conklin. Bruce also enjoyed going to Charlotte and Dover for NASCAR races. He enjoyed relaxing with friends at Pinhead Susan's Trivia night. He truly loved his retirement and was always ready to rub it in. He would always say "Work? What's that?, and chuckle.
Bruce is survived by his "best friend" of 43 years, Claire J. (Dupre) Johnson of Scotia; his loving daughters, Shari A. (Brian) Conroy of Saratoga Springs and Andrea J. Johnson (Scott) of Scotia; his cherished grandson, Justin B. Futrell and his granddaughters, Kaeli, Jenna, and Natalie Conroy; his brother, Richard (Peggy) Johnson of Potomac, MD and his nephew, Robert (Suzanna) Johnson. He was predeceased by his aunt, Ethel Johnson.
