COLONIE- Bryan T. Callaghan, 48, begrudgingly transitioned from this life on Friday, March 19, 2021 after a long fight with liver disease. Bryan was a creative soul, a lover of books and music and a kind, compassionate man. Even at times when Bryan had nothing, he always had his beaming smile, searing sarcasm and witty sense of humor that leaves a huge hole in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Cassidy Callaghan (Donald VanPatten) of Cohoes, NY; his mother, Brenda Knudson Chouffi and stepfather, Greg Chouffi, of Latham, NY and his sister, Bridget Boyd née Callaghan (Corey) of Chelem, Yucatan, Mexico. He also leaves behind grandfathers, many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Bryan T. Callaghan and both grandmothers.
It is with great joy and sorrow that I announce the death of my son, Bryan. Joy because I know his suffering on earth has ended. Sorrow because of the emptiness I feel without my first child and only son and the loneliness that my family and friends will experience. Yesterday is in the past and its' moments can never be reclaimed. Tomorrow is the future that we wait with anticipation for but can never be certain of. But Today is the "present". A very suitable word "present' or gift. Something we receive with joy. So treasure it, enjoy it and make the most of it. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family asks that you consider giving the gift of life by becoming an organ donor in Bryan's memory. For it was through the gift of a liver upon another's death that gave his family an extra fourteen years and two days of time with him.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Remembrance Service, Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A private family internment will be held this summer in Lake Clear, NY.
