ALBANY – Carey Allen, 73, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Carey was born on November 1, 1937 in Tampa, FL and was the son of the late Carey and Berthina (Taylor) Allen, Sr. He served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1959. He was a volunteer for the Albany Housing Authority for many years, where he was a Tenant President for No. Albany. He enjoyed fishing, music and dancing.
Carey is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Sarajane Allen; his loving children, Berthina Temple (Leo), Eugenette Dortch (Carl), Walter Benedict, Giselle Benedict, Rosemarie Smith, Carey Allen III, Christopher Allen, and Christall Glass; his brother, Roland Allen (Barbara) and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Tounolda Allen-Callier; his son, Eugene Gause; and his sisters, Mildred and Margaret Allen.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made to the family.
