Obituary for Carl C. Fink
GUILDERLAND – Carl C. Fink, 80, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 23, 2012. Born in Albany on March 24, 1932, he was the son of the late Marian (Zimmerman) (Fink) Fields and Carl Samuel Fink.
Carl was employed by the National Automatic Sprinkler Industry for many years before starting his own siding business. He was an avid NASCAR fan. In 1946 he started racing stock cars and continued during the 1950's and 1960's throughout New York winning many awards. In later years after retirement, Carl started racing midgets. Again he would travel wherever the races took place. That's where he wanted to be. He raced midgets for 10 years before he was forced to give up what he liked best due to his health.
In December 2011 he was awarded THE Northeast Stock Car Old Timers Superior Achievement in Motorsports. It was the first time this award had ever been presented.
Carl also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, his favorite place. He was a member of McKownville United Methodist Church. Carl cherished the times he spent with his family.
Carl was predeceased by his son Duane.
He is the husband of Evelyn (Prusinski)Fink; father of Carl R. (Patty) Fink, James D. (Patti) Fink, Kathleen (Dwight) Peterson; stepfather to Dr. Lisa D. Prusinski (Mark) of Greenville, NC; grandfather to Jennifer (Will) Hausler, Michelle (Rob) Sanchez, Stephanie (Adrien) Fink, Lisa Fink, Allison Fink, Jamie (Aaron) Tannatta, Haley Peterson, and Tyler Peterson; step-grandfather "Gramps" to Regan and Ryan Vellan of Greenville, N.C.; great grandfather of nine; brother to Jane Smith, Patricia (Edward) Roedema of Lebanon, PA and Evelyn (McLaughlin)(Charles) Pitt, and uncle to several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 5:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 4:00 to 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association, 155 Washington Avenue, Suite 210, Albany, NY 12210 in Carl's name.
