SCHENECTADY- Carl V. Cerniglia, 82, passed away on June 18, 2020.
Carl was born on March 10, 1938 son of the late Salvatore and Rose Cerniglia.
Carl was a talented entertainer and was well known throughout the capital district. He was a singer in many bands throughout the years. For many years Carl worked throughout the area doing Karaoke and DJ'ing at parties, weddings and nightclubs.
He enjoyed hunting, gardening and bowling. Carl also enjoyed playing dominos and poker. Carl had natural artistic ability, he was good at woodworking, and most recently crafts.
He most treasured his time spent with family and friends. He enjoyed having picnics at his home. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He cherished spending time with his beloved dog, Shane. He will be dearly missed.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Joanne Cerniglia; children, Carla Cerniglia, Michael Cerniglia (Melissa Wilcox); grandchildren, Cheryl Balko (Michael), Jordan Cerniglia, Ashley Vealey (Brendon), Jaye Dos Santos (Dominic), Dillon Egan, Christopher Cerniglia, Stephanie Cerniglia; great-grandchildren, Lily Balko, Jayden Cerniglia, Oliver Cowles; sisters, Constance Grant, Mary Breitenstein; mother-in-law, Joan Maier; sister-in-law, Patty Guido (Al), Doris Cerniglia, Carmella Cerniglia; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter Christie Cerniglia, his grandson, Michael D. Cerniglia; brothers, Ben Cerniglia (Patricia), Frank Cerniglia (Phyllis), Armedeo Cerniglia (Dorothy), Vince Cerniglia (Margaret), Angelo Cerniglia, Able Cerniglia, sisters-in-law, Jessica Greenwood; brothers-in-law, Robert Grant, Dick Breitenstein.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 from 5-8pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, NY 12189. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 10am at the funeral home.
Gathering size, within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements.
Masks are required, and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels.
