ALBANY – Carl E. Nelsen, Sr., 68, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. He was born in Albany on October 29, 1945 to the late Dagmar V. (Colemen) and Aanen G. Nelsen, Sr.

Carl served in the Navy on the USS Tidewater, enjoyed truck driving, family vacations, shopping and showing his animals unconditional love. He was a union carpenter and contractor.

Along with his parents, Carl was predeceased by his brother, William Clark.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Burns) Nelsen; son Carl E. Nelsen, Jr.; daughter Pamela B. Nelsen; grandchildren Adrianna L. Dennis, and Nevada, Zane and Camden Nelsen; brother Aanen G. Nelsen, Jr. (Patricia); sister Joyce Menzel (Rainer), and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will be on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Orange Street Cats, 139 Potic Creek Road, Earlton, NY 12058 in Carl's name.
