COLONIE - Carl F. Jurgensen, 86, passed in his sleep on February 25, 2007. He had been hospitalized at the Sam Stratton Veterans Medical Center in Albany, New York where he succumbed following a stroke.
Carl was born on September 6, 1920, and was the son of the late Carl and Mary Jurgensen. He was a life long resident of Colonie. He was a decorated veteran of WWII where he was awarded the Bronze Star serving in the US Army. He was the owner of Employer's Overload in Albany until his retirement. He was twice past commander of VFW Post 8692, a member of the Free and Accepted Order of Masons of the Wadsworth Lodge #417 since 1946 and the Colonie Fire Department.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Laura; his son, Niels Jurgensen; three daughters, Laura Lee Nielsen, Kristina (Christopher) Quenelle, Stephanie Jurgensen; five grandchildren, Seth and Jesse Wilberding, Tara (Ray) Diaz, Laura and Erik Jurgensen; one great granddaughter, Isabella and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at the New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A graveside committal service with military honors will be held on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at Memory's Garden in Colonie.
