COLONIE – Carl J. (Peck) Stuart, 90, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2009.
Carl was born on December 18, 1918 in Wells, NY and was the son of the late Robert and Martha Peck. He was raised in the Town of Hope by Jacob and Anna Stuart. He served in the US Army as a corporal during World War II and had five Battle Stars in Europe. He was employed with the New York Central Railroad for nine years then went to Veterans' Vocational School for refrigeration and air conditioning. After graduation he worked for Schaefer Food Markets then to Grand Union Markets.
Grampy enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sports, especially wrestling and spending time with his family.
Carl is the beloved husband of 63 years to Dolores Stuart; the father of Douglas Stuart and his wife, Melinda and James Stuart and his wife, Karen; grandfather of Kelly, Casey, Carly, Meagan, Matthew and Shane Stuart and great grandfather of Dakota Stuart. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Lorraine Gray and his daughter-in-law, Linda Stuart.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Clare's Church, 1947 Central Ave., Colonie, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
