Carlo E. Chizzolin

Menands- Carlo E. Chizzolin, 88, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on November 4, 2018. The son of the late Agostino and Margherita (Dell'Andrea) Chizzolin, Carlo was born on June 8, 1930 in Selva di Cadore, Italy. Carlo was raised by his Aunt Angela from the time he was an infant. Although he didn't have any siblings, his cousin Lina was like a sister to him. When Carlo was 17 he came to live in New York City. In 1960, he went back home to Italy for vacation and met his future wife, Carla Lorenzini. They were married a few months later and raised their two daughters in Albany, NY. Carlo had a passion for the outdoors, he loved to hike in the Adirondacks and the Dolomites in Italy. He was a proud and active member of the Adirondack Mountain Club, where he formed many lifelong friendships and inspired countless others to enjoy the mountains. Carlo also served as past president of Little's Lake for many years. He retired from New York State Teacher's Retirement System as manager of computer operations. After retirement, Carlo and his family would travel home to Italy every year to visit family and friends and also to hike, climb and pick mushrooms. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Carlo always believed that everyone had goodness in their hearts and treated everyone with love and compassion. He will be missed by all who loved him.
Carlo is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carla; his daughters: Sandra Chizzolin and cherished granddaughter Kate and Lella DeBonis, her husband Anthony DeBonis and beloved grandson, Michael; he is also survived by many relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held from 1 pm to 4 pm on Saturday, November 17 at The Desmond, 660 Albany Shaker Rd, Albany, NY 12211.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carlo's name to the Adirondack Mountain Club, 814 Goggins Road, Lake George, NY 12845 or to a charity of one's choice.
