Carmel I. Papasodero

April 29, 1933 — November 7, 2023

Carmel I. Papasodero, 90, beloved wife of Patsy S. Papasodero of Schenectady, died peacefully with her family by her side on November 7, 2023.

Born April 29, 1933 in Niskayuna, NY, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Matilda Stanco.

A graduate of Albany High School, Carmel worked for Albany Public Market and later for the New York Telephone Company. After her marriage, Carmel was a stay-at-home mom until 1972, when she returned to work. Starting as a sales clerk in the cosmetics department at Montgomery Ward, she retired as a personnel assistant from the company in 1997. After her retirement, she became an active volunteer at both Proctors Theatre and St. Clare's Hospital.

Carmel was a people person, caring and thoughtful. With her warm smile, she made everyone she met feel special. She was always willing to help others, from offering an ear for listening, a sage piece of advice ,or a supportive word of encouragement. This made her happy. She loved cooking, knitting, working on puzzles, and, most especially, being with her family.

She is survived by daughters, Gail Forman (Dale) of Chelmsford, MA, and Julie Hourigan (Michael) of Rexford, NY, 2 grandsons, Nicholas and Matthew of Rexford, and her son Anthony Papasodero of Schenectady, NY. She is also survived by her two sisters-in- law Elizabeth Bitensky (Albert) and Joan Papasodero, both of Schenectady.

The family has a requested a private funeral service.
