SCHENECTADY- Carmela ”Carm” Grasso, 83, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Schenectady, New York on June 10, 1941, a daughter of the late Joseph and Rosalie DePasquale.

 Carm was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, Schenectady NY, and was employed as a key punch operator for the NYS Dept. of Tax & Finance in Schenectady, before starting a family and raising her children at home. She was an avid baker, and loved making delicious treats for her family and friends, and was a regular parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Church, enjoying volunteering for various activities and functions. She was also a lunch monitor for many years at St. Paul’s school, and enjoyed working with and helping the students.

 Carm later worked as a receptionist for her daughter Beth at Grasso & Kayser CPA for approximately 20 years, which is located next door to her loving husband Lou’s Barbershop. She loved traveling and going on bus trips with her husband, and also relished her annual vacation in Cape Cod with her family. Most of all she was very devoted to her family, including her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 Carm is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Louis Grasso, her children; John (Kathy) Grasso of Schenectady, Beth Grasso (Jim Strube) of Ballston Lake, Mike (Cathy) Grasso of East Greenbush, and Julie Grasso of Schenectady, grandchildren; Lou (Mildred Berroa) Grasso, Gary (Patti) Grasso, Gina (Kenny) Bulson, Nick (Heather) Kayser, Sam (Eric) Kvinlaug, Alex Kayser, James Grasso, Caley (Dean Natalizio) Grasso, William Grasso, Aaron (AJ) Grasso, and great grandchildren; Connor, Olivia, Rosie, Ivan, Odin, Calvin & Camden. She is also survived by her twin brother, Frank (Pam) DePasquale, and several nieces and nephew; and is predeceased by her brother, Joseph (Barbara) DePasquale.

 Calling hours will take place on Monday, November 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road Colonie, NY 12205. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany St. Schenectady, NY 12304. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Schenectady.

 Memorial contributions in Carm’s name may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany St., Schenectady, NY 12304.
