COLONIE – Carmela M. Arkazana, 97, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Albany Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Carmela was born on December 16, 1914 in Albany and was the daughter of the late Peter and Grace M. (Antebella) Berghela. She loved cooking and spending time with her family.
Carmela is survived by her loving daughters, Nancy V. Hersko and Marie T. Smith both of Colonie; her cherished grandchildren, Anthony C. Hersko (Debra) of Schodack Landing, Tracey L. Burckhard (Russell) of Colonie and Lisa M. Krajewski (John) of Albany; and her cherished great grandchildren, Johnathon, Gregory and Lindsey Burckhard, MacKenzie Hersko and Sophia Krajewski and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles J. Arkazana; her son, Charles J. Arkazana Jr.; and eight siblings.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, of NENY, Pine West Plaza, Bldg. 4, Suite 405, Washington Avenue Ext., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Carmela M. Arkazana.
