Melrose - Carmen R. Guyer, 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 with his loving family by his side. Carmen was the son of the late Ernest and Susanne Guyer. Carmen was the devoted husband to Rita Guyer. They were married 57 years.
Carmen was born on February 7th 1942. After attending Troy High School, he joined the Navy at the age of 18. Carmen retired from GE Silicone in Waterford, NY, after 25 years of service.
Carmen was a strong, passionate man who always put his family first. Family meant everything to Carmen, he went above and beyond to support and give them the life he felt they deserved.
Carmen was an avid hunter for over 60 years, he always found peace and happiness when he was outdoors.
Carmen is survived by his wife, Rita, four daughters Angel (Matt) Shudt, Christie (Bill) Barile, Judi (Jamie)Kennelly, Carin (Joe) Urban, and his son Carmen Jr. His eight grandchildren, Erica and Natalie Shudt, Kate and Sarah Kennelly, Gina and Anthony Barile, Joseph and Julia Urban. His best canine friend Arnie.
Carmen is predeceased by his siblings, Ernest Guyer, Robert Guyer, and Florence Roberts. Along with canine friends Lui and Sammy.
A private funeral service will be held on Friday March 5th at New Comer Funeral Home in Watervliet, NY. Military honors will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
