GUILDERLAND-Carmen S. Gonzalez, 82, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center with her loving daughter by her side.
Carmen was born on September 5, 1933 in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, to the late Francisco and Gabriella Vazquez. Carmen spent her childhood in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and at the age of 17 she moved to New York, settling in the Bronx. Upon moving to New York she worked as a seamstress for over ten years, where she met her former husband, Jose A. Gonzalez. Carmen was a loving home maker to her only child, Carmen Barreto. Carmen will be remembered as a devoted Christian. She always prayed for others. Her passion in life was God.
Carmen is predeceased by her brother, Harry Vazquez.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Carmen (Mark) Barreto, her grandsons; Joel Barreto, and Jacob (Tesla) Barreto, and her many cousins, family, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Solid Rock Church, 1 Kenwood Ave., Glenmont, NY 12207, on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 1:30pm.
