ALBANY- Carmen D. Salvino, 92, passed away peacefully on November 20th, 2015. Carmen was born to the late James and Mary Salvino in Coeymans, NY.
Carmen started his work life in the Selkirk Railroad yards where he worked on steam engines as a boilermaker. During WWII, he served in the Army in the Pacific theater. Carmen rose to the rank of Technician Fifth Grade and earned numerous medals and ribbons. Upon returning from the War, he resumed his welding career. Life then took him in a different direction when he went into business for himself. Carmen ran Salvino's Restaurant and Bar on Washington Avenue in Albany for many years until he retired at the age of 60.
Carmen enjoyed all aspects of cars, especially driving them and traveling. He spent his time taking long trips and dining out in restaurants, but most of all he enjoyed the companionship of his friends.
In addition to his parents, Carmen was predeceased by Sadie L. Salvino, his wife of 45 years. He was also pre deceased by his loving companion of 17 years, Mabel (Connie) Musella.
He is survived by his son, James L. Salvino, and his daughter in law, Carol A. Salvino.
A visitation will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, Colonie, on Tuesday December 1st, 2015, from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. A Funeral Service will be held the next morning on December 2nd, 2015, at 9:30AM, with a burial at Our Lady of Angels to follow after.
