ALBANY - Carmine Berghela, Sr., 89, a lifelong resident of Albany, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 7, 2025.
A retired foreman and laborer for Laborers Local 190 for 50 years. Carmine was a hard worker all his life, committed to providing for his family. As a Union Laborer, he was part of many Albany building and infrastructure job sites, most notably, the Empire State Plaza, where he would show his boys certain areas and sites he had personally worked on. In the early 1980’s, he opened up the 'Dallas Tap Room' on Delaware Avenue, later becoming ‘Miami Heat”, a local bar that served the area for many years. He was a founding member of the Italian American Community Club. He will always be remembered as an admired, respected hard working man.
Carmine was one of 10 children of Frank and Margaret. Beloved husband of Frances for 40 years. Devoted father of Carmine Jr. (Bea), Nicholas Sr. (Debbie), Mark (Maureen), Ramsis (Jennifer), Jason (Lenore) and the late Peter (Ginny). Proud grandfather of 10 and great grandfather of 16. He is loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
