Carol A. Abatto

LATHAM- Carol A. Abatto, 61, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy.
Carol was born on December 27, 1949 in Troy and was the daughter of the late Edward F. and Philomena R. (Mitchel) Himes. She worked for Wildwood Programs for the past 20 years, where she had a love for those with special needs. She was retired from the NYS Insurance Department and previously worked for St. Joseph's Provincial House. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her husband, children and grandson. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Christopher J. Abatto; her loving children, Andrea M. (Keith) Kowaleski, Kara A. Abatto, and Christopher E. Abatto; her cherished grandson, Kameron M. Kowaleski; her sister, Mary (Todd) Horton; her beloved uncle, Frank Mitchel, her aunt, Louise Bruno; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward F. Himes, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday (Tomorrow) at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie then to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Latham, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday (Today) from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
