ALBANY- Carol A. Smith Dedrick 65, of Albany, passed away on Friday October 13, 2006 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Kenneth W. and Anne Baggett Smith Sr. Carol was a 1958 graduate of Vincentian Institute.
She was a dispatcher with New York State Thruway Authority for 29 years, retiring n 1996. Carol enjoyed bowling, crocheting, knitting, playing bingo and traveling. In recent years, she pursued family genealogy and website development. Carol is the wife of the late William J. Dedrick. She is the beloved mother of Christine M. Dedrick. Stepmother of David John Dedrick. Brother of Kenneth W. Smith Jr. Longtime family friend of Nancy Rodriguez. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Carol's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Albany Medical Center for all of the kindness and support.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 9:30 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 or the American Lung Association, 3 Winners Circle, Albany NY 12205.Expressions of sympathy may be made to Newcomerfamily.com
