COLONIE – Carol Fay Katzman passed away peacefully at Ellis Hospital on Saturday September 20, 2008 after a long illness.
Carol was born March 14, 1934 to Selma & Emanuelle Goldstein in St. Louis, MO. She married Irving D. Katzman in 1953 and welcomed two children over the next five years. In 1967, she and her family moved to Chicago, Ill and in 1977, Carol & Irv moved to Miami FL where she worked for many years in the Cruise Industry. Irv passed away in 1985 and Carol moved in 1988 to Colonie to be near her daughter and new grandchildren. She worked for Ellis Hospital's Business Office for many years, retiring in 1999.
Carol was an avid reader, adored animals and enjoyed crocheting, backgammon, playing cards, traveling, gambling and a good meal. She was a remarkably strong, quick-witted woman with a great sense of humor, a generous heart and a love for adventure.
To cherish her memory, Carol leaves her devoted and loving daughter and son in law, Michelle and Marty DiGiuseppe and her beautiful granddaughters, Dana and Dominique DiGiuseppe all of Colonie. She also leaves a son, Steven Katzman of Tucson, AZ and many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Memorial Services on Thursday evening at 6:00 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 4 to 6 pm at the funeral home. Carol's remains will be cremated and buried in Hollywood, FL with her husband.
