LATHAM- Carol L. (Brown) Griner, 87, loving Mother and Grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2019.
Born in Youngstown Ohio on June 22, 1931, Carol was the daughter of the late George and Ethel Brown. As a young child, she moved with her family to Brownsville, PA. She graduated from Brownsville High School in 1949 and was a communicate of the Brownsville United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir. She moved to Latham, NY in 1961 and met her future husband, Robert J. Griner, whom she later married on September 18, 1970.
She enjoyed sewing, cross stitching and spending time with her family. She looked forward to going with her family on their annual trip to Brownsville, PA each summer. Carol was an avid Steelers and Mets fan and rarely missed a game on TV. Carol loved her Sunday nights, having dessert and coffee on the porch at Dot's or Sandy's, chatting about family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 29 years, Robert J. Griner.
She is survived by her loving children, Missy (JP) Ryan of Glenville, NY and Jay (Kathleen) Griner of Wynantskill, NY. Devoted sister of George (Karen) Brown of Mechanicville, NY.
She was the loving grandmother of Nathan Cole, Rielly, Bailey and Colby. Honorary "Mother" to Mark MacMillan of Latham, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave, Menands, NY 12204.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189, on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 4:00pm-7:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 9:30am. Burial will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
