LOUDONVILLE – Carol J. Lavender, 76, of Loudonville, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Albany Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Wood. Carol was predeceased in 2006 by her beloved husband of 52 years, Edward M. Lavender.
Carol was a graduate of Albany High School. Upon graduation, Carol worked for the A & P Tea Company for several years. She was also employed for twenty five years as a bookkeeping supervisor at Albany Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1997. Carol adored her grandchildren, family and friends. Carol will always be remembered for her kind and giving nature. She embraced everyone she met with love and warmth.
Carol is the beloved mother of David (Luanne) Lavender and Michael Lavender. She is the cherished grandmother of Kayleigh, Shannon and Shane Lavender. She is the sister of the late Charles E. Wood. Carol is the sister in law of Louis (Rowena) Lavender. She is the life long treasured friend of Shirley Warnken and her late husband Robert. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the kind and caring medical and nursing staff on the 3rd and 6th floors at Albany Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 12 noon at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
