GUILDERLAND- Carol Janet Mandarano , 78, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Matthew and Mary Lennon. Carol was the devoted wife of Robert Mandarano with whom she celebrated her 58th Wedding Anniversary on August 25th of this year.She is survived by her two sisters. Agnes (Lennon) Hodgeson, Charles of Gallion, OH, Rosemarie (Lennon) Mattson, David of Falmouth, MA. Her three children, Mikki (Mandarano) Battaglioli, John of Ballston Lake, NY, Mike and Carolyn Mandarano of Newtown, CT, Renee Mandarano of Rotterdam, NY. Her precious grandchidren, Rachael Battaglioli of Cambridge, MA, Drs Eric and Nicole Battaglioli of York, PA, Hope Gaetani, of Rotterdam, NY, Garrett and Connor Mandarano of Newtown, CT. and along with several nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Carol graduated from Ellis School of Nursing as one of the pioneer classes of married students in 1972. She retired from Bellevue Women's Hospital after 15 years as a labor and delivery nurse. Carol's many hobbies included, an accomplished commissioned seamstress from everything from wedding gowns to holiday decorations. Her Christmas cookies were one of a kind and matched by no one! Carol was active in her church at St. Gabriel's Women's club for over 50 years. All who knew her, enjoyed her fun disposition and love her dearly. A special appreciation and gratitude to Baptist Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Scotia, NY for their expertise and outstanding care. Additionally, Community Hospice of Schenectady who administered such care and comfort to Carol during her last few weeks. She is also survived by her three children and her five grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, New York on Sunday November 2, 2014 from 4:00pm- 7:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held Monday November 3, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Gabriel's Church in Rotterdam, NY. Burial will follow the service at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
