Carol Helen (Clements) Kolowski

December 24, 1939 — July 19, 2018

SCHENECTADY - Carol Helen (Clements) Kolowski, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 19, 2018 in her sleep at home, joining her beloved husband Louis, in eternal life.

Carol was born on December 24, 1939 in Troy, NY to the late Stewart A. Clements Sr. and Helen (Miller) Clements. She grew up in the area with her three sisters and seven brothers. Carol attended Troy High School and graduated in 1959. She went on to obtain her license in cosmetology.

During her younger years, Carol enjoyed attending stock car races, tractor pulls and demolition derbies. She was also an avid dancer and loved going to the different dance halls in the area.

It was during one of these dances where Carol met, fell in love and eventually married Louis Kolowski (Schenectady, deceased December 2011). They married on May 18th 1969, starting a new life and family, in Schenectady.

As the years went on, Carol held many different jobs. A couple of her more noted employers were Bumstead Chevrolet of Troy and Fuel Lane of Colonie. She eventually started working as a volunteer in the Schenectady School District which later developed into a career as paraprofessional, where she was well known to her colleagues and students as 'Mrs. K'. Carol eventually retired from the school district with over 22 years of service.

She was involved with King School's PTO for many years, serving as Treasurer. She also was involved with Scouting as Den Mother, Leader and Treasurer. Carol was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Niskayuna where she enjoyed being a Sunday School Teacher.

Other things Carol enjoyed were crocheting, bingo and coffee at the local diners where she would meet up with friends, family or just have time for her. She also enjoyed gardening, collecting angels and gazing at her ever-growing Christmas village collection during the holidays.

Carol enjoyed being a wife and mother. She was 'Mom' to more than just her sons; she was 'Mom' to their friends and many of the students with whom she worked with over the years. Her greatest love was becoming a Grandmother and Great-Grandma.

Carol is survived by her four sons, Louis (Judy) Kolowski of Hampstead NC, John (Cathy) Kolowski of Troy NY, Charles (Dawn) Kolowski of Fonda NY, and Scott Kolowski of Schenectady NY; Grandchildren: Michelle, Jason, Timothy, John, Kathryn and Victoria; Great Grandchildren: Kelsey, Lauren, Wyatt and Willow; Several siblings, nieces and nephews.
