Albany- Carol A. VanWormer-Szemplinski, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Mildred VanWormer. Carol was the devoted wife to Frank A. Szemplinski, Jr.. They were married 54 years.
Carol worked as a file clerk at the NYS Office of Temporary Disability Assistance for 25 years and retired in 2004.
Carol enjoyed spending time with her entire family and loved cooking for them especially her famous spaghetti and meatball dinner. She was an avid camper, she especially enjoyed the Adirondacks and Thompsons Lake. Carol truly loved her grandchildren and cherished every moment she spent with them. She especially loved attending their athletic and musical events. Carol enjoyed spending time with Jewel, her son's Frankie's boxer, and loved when she would visit.
She will be truly missed by everyone who loved her, especially her cherished husband.
In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by her sons; Frank (Sheri) Szemplinski, III, John (Sandra) Szemplinski, and Shane (Carm) Szemplinski; grandchildren, Justin, Haylie, Cameron, Rocco, Alexis, Ruby, and Rhett; siblings, Joanne (the late Ted) Sokaris, Harry (Carol) VanWormer, and Ed (Charlotte) VanWormer; her best friend, Gayle Leonard; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Carol is predeceased by her sister, Patricia Urschel.
