Carolann Batchelder

November 12, 1936 — April 20, 2023

Voorheesville- Carolann "Carol" Batchelder, 86, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late John and Wilhelmina Deitz. Husband Kenneth "Mike" Batchelder predeceases Carol.

Carol was previously a volunteer with Voorheesville Ambulance. Carol enjoyed many things but above all, she was a proud grandmother to her seven grandsons.

She is survived by her children, Michael Batchelder, Michele Shahen (Jerome) and Scott Batchelder. She was the loving grandma to her seven grandsons, Michael, Benjamin, John, Matthew, Nicholas, Jacob and William. She will also be missed by her sisters, Janice Dedrick (Larry), Cathy Hawley (Steve) as well as her in laws Edith Hanke (Herb), Robert Batchelder (Sally), Andrew Batchelder (Cathy), Patrick Batchelder (Karen) and she will also be remembered by her many nieces and nephews as "Aunt Carol."

Carol is predeceased by her brother John "Jack" Deitz (Debbie) and brother in law William "Bill" Batchelder.

Carol will be remembered as an avid Elvis fan, that was up for any adventure and who had an irreverent and unique sense of humor. She was a helper to many in her lifetime, and was often the one who took a friend or family member to an appointment, and she loved this time spent with her loved ones. Carol, her friends, and family members enjoyed many afternoons at the Saratoga Racino, and all who knew Carol and Mike have fond memories of time spent with them at their kitchen table. Carol was always quick to offer to put a pot of coffee on.

Carol's greatest joy was her grandsons, they will always remember their many adventures with Grandma and the lunches they shared at her house or the Windowbox. The memories of uproarious holiday dinners and many spectacular "Grandma moments" will last a lifetime. She shared a birthday with her grandson John and often said that he was the best birthday gift she ever received; introducing him to Racino when he turned 18 and sharing a "boot" with him and her grandsons when he turned 21.
