ALBANY_Carole Anne Johnas Sabatino, 66, passed away on October 19 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Carole spent all of her working days in the healthcare field, where her love and compassion were so evident to her co-workers as well as the patients with whom she came in contact. Her spirit of generosity extended to all and she went the extra mile to put a smile on the face of anyone she felt was in need. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother extraordinaire, sister and a faithful friend.
Carole's love of nature can be seen in her numerous photos taken with her companion Greg on their many trips. Whether it was ducks on the pond, birds at her birdfeeders, swimming with dolphins, kayaking and snorkeling, creating a lovely garden or drinking in the beauty of Yellowstone National Park, Carole appreciated all of God's creation.
Carole valued the time she spent with her lifelong best friend Laurie at the Racino in Saratoga and on their vacations to Bermuda.
Carole is survived by her loving companion of many years, Gregory Turek three sons, Michael (Luciana), Matthew (Brenda) and Scott (Ashely) Sabatino; her siblings, Sister Jacqueline Johnas, CSJ, Susan (William) Horan, Michael (Flerida) Johnas; the light of her life, her one and only precious granddaughter Gianna Sabatino; her grandsons, Zachary and Shane McHarg and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Henry and Mary Johnas.
The family wants to thank the doctors and the entire nursing staff at St. Peter's Hospice Inn, most especially Dr. Stephen Wrzesinski and Murtaza Singaporwala, Hospitalist PA, for the extraordinary support, comfort and care they gave to Carole and her family.
