GLENVILLE, NY – Carole Ann Dewey Schoonmaker, 70, of Glenville entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 25, 2009 at her home after a long illness.
Carole was born in Albany and then raised in Oswego, NY. She was the daughter of the late Alice and Erwin Dewey. Carole resided in Glenville for the past 44 years. She worked as a Registered Nurse at various hospitals and nursing homes throughout the Capital District. Her passion was to be a servant of the Lord through her service to the church. She was a member of the Rosary Alter Society at Immaculate Conception Church in Glenville where she also taught religious education for many years. She then worked on the Bereavement Committee and was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at Christ the King Church in Guilderland. She was an exceptional cook, caregiver, mother and friend.
In addition to her parents, Carole is predeceased by her beloved husband Charles A, her son Lee, and her son Charles N. She is survived by her brothers, Erwin "Jeep" (Kathleen) Dewey and Gordon (Karen) Dewey; Her children, Alicia Himes, Jill Schoonmaker, Regina Himes, Mark (Francine) Schoonmaker, Todd Schoonmaker, and Sondra (Richard) Erickson; Her beloved grandchildren Elijah & Jessica Erickson, Andrew & Craig Schoonmaker, Charles, Nicholas, Christina and Michele Schoonmaker, James (Erin) Himes and Danielle Schoonmaker; her great-grand children Jason Carter & Madeline Turner; Bryce Himes and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 am at Christ the King Church, Guilderland. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). The parish of Christ the King will gather on Monday at 4:30 pm at the funeral home for a service for prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Interment will follow the service at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
