COLONIE – Carole M. Vrooman, 74, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at her son's home in Schenectady, surrounded by her loving family.
Carole was born on October 23, 1938 in Hackensack, NJ and was the daughter of the late Lester B. and Dorothy M. (Busking) O'Neil Jr. As a little girl she was known as "Pumpkin". She was a customer service representative for Sears in Maywood, NJ for 30 years and worked for NY Life for five years, and then Community Bank in Rochelle Park, NJ for three years. She was a member of the DAR - Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an animal lover and enjoyed painting, drawing, sweets and jewelry. Her favorite color was purple.
Carole is survived by her sons, Michael (Janet) Tracey and Joseph (Scherry) Gilligan, both of Schenectady; her stepdaughters, Paige (Frank) Guido of Guilderland and Allison (Robin) Young of Delmar; her grandchildren, Molly and Ian Tracey, Jack Riley III, and Alexis and Mitchell Young. She was predeceased by her husband of 22 years, Albert W. Vrooman.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services on Monday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 983 Watervliet Shaker Road, Colonie (Albany), NY 12205. There will be no calling hours.
