SLINGERLANDS – Carolee R. Wilson, 63, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at St. Peter's Hospital.
Carolee was born on April 29, 1948 in Gloucester, MA and was the daughter of the late Lester S. and Ruth E. (White) Roberts. She graduated from Gloucester High School in 1966 and attended Springfield College, Class of 1971, earning a B.S., M.Ed., and C.A.S. in rehabilitation counseling. With her husband, Gerard, she worked in a therapeutic community as live in counseling staff in Sevenoaks, England from 1971 to 1972.
Carolee's interest shifted to education and she took a teaching position at Wildwood School, advancing to staff supervisor. This led to an acceptance to a doctorial program at SUNY Albany. As a regional representative to NYS Education Department, Carolee was on teams that evaluated and allocated federal funds from the Office of School Improvement.
Carolee is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Gerard C. Wilson; her son, Darron Wilson of Brooklyn, NY; her loving sister, Alison Belliveau of The Villages, FL, her brother Steven Roberts of Swanville, ME; a grandson, four nieces and two nephews.
A funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday. Interment will be held on Friday at the Dollivers Cemetery in Gloucester, MA.
