Caroline S. Calero

Albany-Caroline Sardo Evans Calero, 94, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Teresian House.

She was born on August 4, 1926 daughter of the late Frank and Amy Gabriel Sardo in Ithaca, NY.

Caroline grew up on a farm in Groton, NY. She graduated from Groton High School. She often shared her memories of doing farm chores with her younger brother. She raised her daughters while working full time at SCM typewriter factory. After she retired she moved to Weedsport, NY, so she could spend time with her younger daughter and granddaughters. She enjoyed attending her granddaughters many activities such as dance, music and softball and she always cherished her role as a grandmother. Later on she moved to Altamont, NY near Albany NY so she would be near her older daughter and son-in-law. Caroline will be remembered for her love of her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Anne Flowers (Thomas) of Albany, NY, Robin DiFabio (Joseph) of Swansboro, NC; granddaughters, Jennifer McDonald of Farmington, NY, Amy McDonald of Rochester, NY, Kelly McDonald of Rochester, NY and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Rose Shappee; brothers, Dominick Sardo, Louis Sardo, Michael Sardo and Antonio Sardo.

Caroline's family would like to thank the staff of Teresian House Carmel Gardens for their affection, love and excellent care of Mom. The staff cared deeply for Mom and created a family atmosphere for her and the residents.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 10am-12pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.

Gathering size, within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements.
Masks are required, and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels.
