Caroline E. Garhartt, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on October 26, 2023, at the age of 75 in Rotterdam, NY.
Born on April 16, 1948, in Albany, NY, Caroline was a compassionate and selfless woman who dedicated her life to her family and community.
Caroline was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, always putting others' needs before her own. She had a humble spirit and was known for going without so that others could have what they needed. Caroline had a special affinity for playing her luck on the slot machines. In her free time, she also enjoyed bird watching, finding solace in the beauty of nature.
Caroline's career was multifaceted, as she cherished her role as a stay-at-home mother and also found fulfillment working in the cafeteria at Mohonasen School District. It was during her time at the school district that she formed lasting friendships that endured until her passing.
Caroline is survived by her son, David Garhartt Jr. and his wife, Jennifer; daughter, Kimberly, as well as her cherished grandchildren, David Garhartt Ill (Ali), Dylan Garhartt, Delaney Garhartt and Samantha. She is also survived by her sister Leona Hoffman and brother Frankie Bolani. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members who will forever cherish her memory.
Caroline's husband of 55 years, David Garhartt, preceded her in death, along with her parents Peter and Alberta Bolani, and her beloved dog CJ.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie on Wednesday, November 1st from 4-7PM. A funeral ceremony will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, November 2nd at 10AM with burial to follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the ASPCA or St.Jude's in Caroline's honor. These organizations held a special place in her heart, and donations made in her name will continue her legacy of compassion and kindness towards animals and children. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at St.Peter's Hospice and Oncology for their dedication and care.
Caroline Garhartt will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her selflessness, love, and unwavering dedication to her family and community will forever be remembered. May she rest in eternal peace.
