SCHENECTADY – Carrie Nell Miller, 91, of Schenectady, passed away Monday January 30, 2012 at the Glendale Nursing Home.
She was born in Atlanta and was the daughter of the late John and Annie Mae Moss Evans. Carrie was a clerk with New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for thirty years, retiring in 1988.
Carrie joined Friendship Baptist Church in 1943, where she served in areas ranging from Sunday School Teacher to the Soup Kitchen Committee. Nell was a member in long standing in Adah Chapter 60, Order of The Eastern Star; Alpha Court #8, Heroines Of Jericho; and Galilee Royal Court #14, Order of Cyrene. She served as a Board Member of the Carver Center for many years.
She is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Skip (Patricia) Aycox of Schenectady, grandchildren Karin Aycox (Dave Whiting) of Falls Church, Virginia, Christopher Aycox (Klarra Kum) of The Czech Republic, Kurt Osterlitz and Jon Osterlitz of Schenectady, Kristen (Dave)
DeSalvatore of Clifton Park, Kelly Osterlitz of Burnt Hills, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews,great nieces, and great nephews. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Laurin Aycox; her sisters Edna, Lucy Mae, and Susie Mae; and her brothers Alfonso and Frank.
Calling hours will be Friday evening from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, at Friendship Baptist Church, 409 Union Street, Schenectady. Funeral Services will be Saturday 9:00 AM at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Interment will be in Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Baptist Church.
